Our History
Neil and Robyn married on May 16, 1998 at Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, CA. The church is connected to the school where we met (Christian Heritage College, now
San Diego Christian College). We graduated one week before we got married!
After our beautiful honeymoon in St. Lucia, Caribbean, we began serving the Lord full-time in our first position as Director of Youth and Worship at
Mapleview Baptist Church in Lakeside, CA. We served there from June 1998 - July 2000.
During that time, Robyn attended
Bethel Seminary for Biblical Counseling/Psychology for one semester, and graduated from
National University with an MA in Cross-Cultural Education. While a Grad-Student, she worked as a Teller at Wells Fargo Bank in Santee, CA and as a Credentialed Teacher at the San Diego City School.
After she graduated, we went to Dallas, TX for Neil to attend
Dallas Theological Seminary during July 2000 - May 2004. During that time, Neil served in two churches:
At the tail end of our Seminary career, we added to our tour of duty with pets (from our first: a Green Tree Frog named 'Hoppy' that we used to cuddle with on the couch--ok that was a little weird--to a pet rabbit named 'Cashew' because she was such a nut, to two dogs 'Abbey' a pure-bred red-haired Border Collie and 'Elliot' a cute mut we found at an SPCPA animal rescue shelter), we had the best addition to our lives yet:
Luke Hudson Schultz! He was born June 21, 2004 at
Allen Presbyterian Hospital at 2:00am, weighing in at 6 lbs. 4 oz. and 21" long. His big blue eyes and guitar-playing hands were so beautiful!
Within three weeks, we found ourselves paying $10,000 to sell our first house and relocate with a three-week old infant to take on the position of Associate Pastor of Adult Ministries at
Grace Community Church in Ramona, CA, which is where Neil trusted in Christ at and served as an Intern for four years during college. We arrived in July 2004.
Alyssa Faith Schultz was born January 16, 2007 at Pomerado Hospital in Poway, CA at 8:45am, weighing in at 6 lbs. 10 oz. and 19" long. Her blue eyes and beautiful face reminded Neil that he's the most blessed guy on the planet.
Since being here, it has been one wild ride after another! Isn't that how it looks so far? Neil's employment has been a shifting challenge, as he has held three jobs in three months. The first job, which was as General Manager of
Inflation Creations, owned by a dear brother and friend, had to lay him off after two months due to insufficient capital. The projections were based on California performances... it's nothing like that here in Idaho! Needless to say, we were both in need for employment.
